Travel through some of Switzerland’s most spectacular scenery aboard scenic trains, mountain railways, lake cruises, and panoramic drives. Discover UNESCO World Heritage sites, stroll through historic old towns, sample regional specialties including world-famous cheeses, chocolates, and local beverages, and experience the relaxed pace of Swiss life.

As always, our tours are limited to just 6–12 travelers, allowing for a more personal experience, comfortable transportation, and the flexibility to enjoy each destination without feeling rushed. Thoughtfully selected hotels, expert local guides, and authentic regional experiences combine to create a journey that feels less like a tour and more like traveling with friends.

Itinerary

  • Friday | Day 1 | Welcome to Switzerland

    Arrival in Geneva and check-in to your hotel. Nestled along the shores of Lake Geneva and surrounded by mountain views, Geneva offers an elegant introduction to Switzerland.

     

    This evening, meet your Journey Director and fellow travelers before enjoying a welcome dinner featuring regional specialties. Relax and settle into the Swiss way of life as your adventure begins.

  • Saturday | Day 2 | Discovering Geneva

    Today you’ll discover Geneva‘s fascinating blend of international influence, history, and lakeside beauty. Accompanied by a local guide, explore the city’s historic center, charming streets, and important landmarks while learning about the unique role Geneva has played throughout European history.

     

    Later, enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Geneva, offering beautiful views of the city, surrounding vineyards, and distant Alpine peaks.

     

    The remainder of the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy at leisure.

  • Sunday | Day 3 | Cheese, Chocolate & Swiss Traditions

    Today we venture into the Swiss countryside to discover two of the country’s most beloved culinary traditions.

    Our first stop is the Gruyères region, famous around the world for its cheese-making heritage. Learn about traditional production methods, discover the importance of dairy farming in Swiss culture, and enjoy tastings of regional specialties. You’ll also have time to explore the charming medieval village of Gruyères, known for its cobbled streets, historic architecture, and hilltop castle. 

    Later, we visit a local Chocolate Factory, where we’ll learn about Switzerland’s rich chocolate-making tradition and enjoy some sweet samples along the way.

    Return to Geneva for the evening.

  • Monday | Day 4 | Lavaux Vineyards, Chillon Castle & Zermatt

    After breakfast we leave Geneva and begin our journey deeper into the heart of Switzerland.

     

    Along the way, we’ll visit the spectacular Lavaux region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its terraced vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva. We continue to the shores of the lake admiring the iconic Chillon Castle, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful and best-preserved medieval landmarks.

     

    Later this afternoon we arrived at the world-famous mountain resort of Zermatt. Nestled at the foot of the Matterhorn and surrounded by towering Alpine peaks, this charming car-free village offers one of Switzerland’s most spectacular settings.

  • Tuesday | Day 5 | The Matterhorn & Gornergrat Railway

    Today’s excursion takes us high into the Swiss Alps aboard one of the country’s most famous mountain railways.

     

    Travel on the historic Gornergrat Bahn, Europe’s highest open-air cogwheel railway, as it climbs through dramatic Alpine scenery. Along the way you’ll cross impressive bridges, pass through tunnels, and enjoy ever-changing views of glaciers and mountain peaks.

     

    At the summit, breathtaking panoramas await. Surrounded by numerous peaks soaring above 4,000 meters, including magnificent views of the Matterhorn, this is one of Switzerland’s most unforgettable mountain experiences.

     

    Return to Zermatt for the evening.

  • Wednesday | Day 6 | The Glacier Express & Lucerne

    Today we board one of the world’s most celebrated scenic rail journeys.

     

    Travel aboard the legendary Glacier Express through a landscape of pristine Alpine beauty. As the train winds its way through mountain valleys, forests, meadows, and traditional Swiss villages, you’ll enjoy some of the country’s most spectacular scenery from the comfort of your seat.

     

     After arriving in Andermatt, we continue to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most beloved cities. Set on a sparkling lake and surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks, Lucerne perfectly blends natural beauty with historic charm.

     

    This afternoon we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of the city’s picturesque old town before gathering for dinner.

  • Thursday | Day 7 | Mount Pilatus

    Another Swiss highlight awaits today.

     

    Prepare for spectacular views as we ascend Mount Pilatus aboard the world’s steepest cogwheel railway. Rising high above Central Switzerland, Mount Pilatus offers breathtaking panoramic views across lakes, valleys, and the surrounding Alps.

     

    With its dramatic scenery and unforgettable vistas, this mountain excursion is sure to be one of the highlights of your Swiss adventure.

     

    Return to Lucerne for an evening at leisure.

  • Friday | Day 8 | Lucerne Beer Traditions & Zurich

    This morning we’ll discover another side of Swiss culture with a guided visit to one of Lucerne’s renowned breweries. Learn about the brewing process, local traditions, and the craftsmanship behind Lucerne’s celebrated beers before enjoying a tasting experience.

     

    After lunch we continue to Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city and one of Europe’s most vibrant urban centers.

     

    This afternoon we’ll explore Zurich‘s historic old town with a local guide, discovering its charming streets, beautiful architecture, and rich history.

  • Saturday | Day 9 | Rhine Falls & Stein am Rhein

    Today features two of Switzerland’s most impressive natural and cultural treasures.

     

    Our first destination is the Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. Experience the power and beauty of this natural wonder as millions of gallons of water cascade over the rocks below.

     

    We then continue to the medieval town of Stein am Rhein, famous for its beautifully preserved historic center, colorful painted facades, and charming atmosphere.

     

    Return to Zurich for a free afternoon and evening.

  • Sunday | Day 10 | Rapperswil, the City of Roses

    Today we’ll embark on a scenic boat excursion across Lake Zurich to the charming town of Rapperswil, often referred to as the “City of Roses.”

     

    Overlooking the lake from its hilltop castle, Rapperswil enchants visitors with its medieval old town, waterfront promenades, and beautiful rose gardens. Enjoy time to stroll through the historic streets and soak in the relaxed atmosphere of this picturesque lakeside destination.

     

    This evening we’ll gather for a farewell dinner and celebrate the wonderful memories made throughout our Swiss journey.

  • Monday | Day 11 | Arrivederci! Until We Meet Again!

    After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to Switzerland.

     

    We hope you’ve enjoyed this journey through some of the country’s most beautiful regions, discovering its landscapes, traditions, and unique way of life. Thank you for traveling with us, and we look forward to welcoming you on another adventure soon.

Before you sign up, please note the following:

  • Some tours start and end in different cities, make sure to book your flights accordingly.
  • Reminders, hotel information, and arrival instructions will be sent only by email, please make sure we have your current email address.
  • You must be in good physical condition to sign-up for this trip! There will be extended standing and walking over uneven pavement. An average walking tour is about 2-3 hours without sitting.
  • We strongly recommend that you purchase Travel Insurance for your trip. For suggestions on policies and a quote, please contact us.
  • You should know that air conditioning in Italy and Europe, as well as WIFI connection, are not always as reliable as they are in the United States.
  • The hotel staff assigns rooms to guests, some rooms may include stairs. A view is not guaranteed. As we work mainly with small upscale boutique hotels, rooms can differ in size and layout. Please contact us if you have specific requests/needs.
  • Even though tips to staff and restaurants are included, it is suggested that you put aside approximately $100 in combined gratuities for your driver & Tour Director for your trip.
  • It is your responsibility to obtain the required documents to travel to Italy. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.
  • In the unlikely event your tour does not reach the minimum participation requirement of 6 travelers, we will work with you to choose another available tour or tour date. We will do our best to make the transition as smooth as possible.
  • Please note: while we do our best to adhere to our published itineraries, they may be changed at the discretion of the Tour Leader due to weather conditions and other unforeseeable circumstances.
